Data reporting within CDTA for service planning and to state and national agencies, and collaboration on major route restructuring projects..
 
Intern | Capital District Transportation Authority | Summer 2008 and Summer 2009
Performed field work and ridership data collection, delivered an annual study of CDTA's bike rack program, and began a major GIS-based presentation for the NY5 Bus Rapid Transit project.

Performed GIS work associated with commercial mapmaking and collaborated on projects in the field to expand JIMAPCO's market in eastern New England and downstate New York.
 
 
Planning/Research Interests 
Michael's principal interest is in the use of transit as a placemaking tool and as a springboard for the revitalization of cities. A self-described "infra-urbanist," he is passionate about the role of smart, reliable, and attractive urban transportation systems in the development of enlivening communities.

 
Thesis/Research Paper Topic
Michael is considering a study of the effects of urban design and marketing on the effectiveness of transit in emerging communities.
