Planning/Research Interests
Raised in rural New York, Brigidann learned through first-hand experience what important role planners play in their communities. She sees how rural, suburban and urban environments interact, for better and for worse, and where planners need to step in, not only to simply address failures, but also improve places before problems emerge. She is specifically interested in rural preservation, urban revitalization and regional cooperation to promote the two and believes that environmental planning and community development planning are inseparable.

Thesis/Research Paper Topic
Brigidann has begun research on US Housing Policy and the effect it has had on rural poverty. Her current area of study is manufactured housing and land-use policies, and what combination best serves to promote equality. She plans the final paper, to be finished by August 2009, to incorporate this theme among several others.
