Planning/Research Interests As a transportation specialist, Aaron is interested in policies that will increase the mode-share of pedestrians, bicyclists, transit-riders, and carpoolers — especially policies that address the safety, comfort, and convenience of those modes. Additionally, he is interested in the effects that laws, law enforcement, and roadway design can have in terms of improving the poor safety record and mode-share numbers associated with bicycling and walking in the United States. He believes that a robust and balanced transportation system should be welcoming, safe, and accommodating to people of all ages and abilities and that these issues have a profound impact on the quality of life, or lack thereof, found in our cities and towns.
Aaron is a staunch supporter and promoter of
local food systems in the form of community
gardens, farmers' markets, food carts, and community-supported
agriculture programs that provide access to local, natural foods for
people of all walks of life. He
is also a passionate advocate for landscape and biodiversity
conservation, parks (national, state, and local), and historic
preservation. Thesis/Research Paper TopicBicyclist and Pedestrian Safety in the United States: Lessons and Best Practices from Abroad | |
